In February 2006, what started as dk web design began helping a small number of local businesses on the Isle of Man establish their first presence online. At that time many businesses were only just starting to consider websites, and the internet looked very different to the one we know today.

Over the past two decades we have watched the digital landscape change dramatically. Websites have evolved from simple information pages into powerful tools that help businesses attract new customers, showcase their work and build trust online.

As the business grew, we later acquired and took over IOM Web Design, continuing to support local businesses while also working with clients across the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. Today the company operates as a Limited Company with multiple trading brands, but our core focus has always remained the same: helping businesses build a professional and reliable presence online.

Throughout those twenty years we have also had the opportunity to support a number of local charities and organisations, providing website design and hosting services where we can to help groups that support the Isle of Man community.

A Free Website for One Local Business

As part of our 20 year celebration, IOM Web Design will design and build a completely free brochure-style website for one Isle of Man business that currently does not have a website.

Many small businesses rely solely on social media or word of mouth to promote their services. While these can work well, having your own website gives your business a permanent home online where potential customers can learn about what you do, see examples of your work and contact you directly.

This promotion is aimed at small local businesses who may have thought about having a website many times but simply​ didn’t know where to start. We’ll take care of everything technical, you just need to tell us about your business.

Whether you are a plumber, gardener, trades person, handyman, or run another type of service-based business, this is an opportunity to get your business online with a professionally designed website.

The full cost of designing and building the website and your domain name will be covered by IOM Web Design.

What's Included

The selected business will receive a professionally designed brochure-style website built specifically for their business.

This style of website is designed to present clear information about the business and the services it offers. A typical structure would include pages such as a Home page, About page, Services page, Gallery page and Contact page.

The initial domain registration will also be covered by IOM Web Design. This will include one standard domain extension such as .im, .com or .co.uk, depending on availability.

The website will also include two email addresses linked to the domain name, allowing the business to communicate professionally using their new domain. Additional email accounts can be added if required and may be subject to an additional cost.

While the design and build of the website are fully covered as part of this promotion, the website will require ongoing hosting in order to remain live and accessible online.

Once the website has been completed and is ready to launch, a monthly hosting fee will be required from the beginning of the following calendar month. Hosting payments will be collected by standing order, and the exact monthly cost will be outlined in the confirmation email sent to the selected business.

The domain name will also require annual renewal after the first year, which will become the due annually where by we will invoice and renew for the business moving forward.

Content for the Website

The selected business will be responsible for providing the information required for the website. This includes details about the business, services offered, contact details and any photographs or images that should appear on the site.

IOM Web Design will assist with formatting and structuring this information so that it works effectively on the website. Where suitable images are not available, appropriate stock imagery may be used where necessary.

How the Selection Process Works

Applications for the promotion will be reviewed by IOM Web Design once submissions have closed on 31st March 2026. No further applications will be accepted after this date.

We expect interest from a range of local businesses, and the final selection will be based on several factors including the type of business, how a website could help the business grow, and the information provided in the application.

The business selected for the free website will be contacted directly to begin the project. 

The selected business will be chosen by IOM Web Design based on suitability and the information provided in the application. This promotion is not a random prize draw.

Although this promotion allows us to provide one website completely free of charge, we recognise that many businesses applying may also benefit from having a professional website created.

For businesses that are not selected as part of the promotion, IOM Web Design may contact you to discuss reduced-cost website options designed specifically for small Isle of Man businesses.

There is absolutely no obligation to proceed, but we are always happy to help local businesses take the next step in establishing their online presence.
